About Me

Bob began his investment industry career in 1998 and joined Stifel in 2011.  Prior to Stifel, he worked for Morgan Stanley, Smith Barney, and Banc of America Investment Services, Inc.

Taking a holistic approach to wealth management, Bob not only periodically reviews his clients’ individual investments, he also assesses their risk and liability concerns, including insurance and annuities.  He believes in developing well-allocated investment plans based on his clients’ goals, experience, and comfort level with risk.  A well-allocated investment plan includes (but is not limited to) common and preferred stocks, bonds, mutual funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs), and cash.  He also incorporates dividend-paying equities where appropriate for income and potential growth of principal.  On occasion, he will employ alternative investments in an effort to round out his clients’ allocation.  He will also collaborate with outside money managers to utilize their resources and expertise, particularly in such specialties as options and derivative investments.

Bob believes in delivering and maintaining a high level of contact and communication with his clients whenever possible to better serve their needs.

To further enhance his knowledge in working with clients, Bob attained both the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation. The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification identifies those individuals who have met the experience requirements of the CFP® Board, have successfully completed financial planning coursework, and have passed the CFP® Certification Examination.  The AIF® designation identifies individuals who have met the experience requirements of the Center for Fiduciary Studies, a division of fi360, have gained a fundamental understanding of the principles of fiduciary responsibility and processes for meeting a defined standard of care, and have passed fi360’s AIF® examination.

About Me

John began his investment services career in 2007 and joined Stifel in 2018.  Prior to joining Stifel, he worked with ultra-high-net-worth families, endowments, and corporations at UBS Private Wealth Management in Atlanta, Georgia.

John forms deep relationships with his clients and focuses his practice on helping clients pursue their short- and long-term goals through personalized wealth planning and intelligent investing.  He strives to organize and simplify his clients’ lives by developing comprehensive, goals-based wealth management plans and helping his clients stick to these plans.  Rather than attempting to forecast the economy or time the markets, he believes that discipline and objective behavior are key elements to successful investing.  Additionally, he encourages his clients to have a team of professionals behind them and has found that his most successful engagements are the result of clear collaboration with his clients’ other trusted advisors, such as their CPA, attorneys, and bankers.

John earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Georgia and a Master of Business Administration-Finance from Georgia State University.  In an effort to further expand his wealth and investment planning abilities, he earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and holds the Series 7 and 66 securities licenses, as well as life, health, and variable insurance licenses (including annuities).

A native of Thomson, Georgia, John enjoys spending as much time as he can outdoors with his family and friends.  Outside of the office, you can find him hunting, fishing, attempting to golf, and following the University of Georgia football.  John is a member of the Valdosta First United Methodist Church, where he serves on the finance committee.  He also currently serves on the Valwood Board of Trustees and the Valwood Finance Committee.  He and his wife, Mary Margaret, have a son and a daughter who keep them busy.
